Often referred to as the Woot! of Macintosh software (more on Woot! another day if you don’t know about it!), MacZOT! is a website that, every single day, highlights a new Mac application of some sort or another and offers it at a discounted price for those who would buy it through the site. Usually the software offered is sharware and only a limited number of the software is available for the day. It’s one item per day until they sell out, and after that you’ll just have to wait until the next day.

Today is a special day, because MacZOT has asked the blogging community to rally to their call and highlight their website, in exchange for the opportunity to make today’s featured software, AppZapper for Mac OS X, absolutely free for those folks who can get it, as long as enough bloggers come to the call and spread the word! I’ve been keeping an eye on MacZOT for a long time now, and now that I have a Mac of my very own, I’m there almost every day. As for AppZapper, most people call it the “Uninstaller that Apple forgot;” meaning that you can drag an app to AppZapper, and it’ll quickly scan your system for files that the application uses; and give you the option to uninstall the application completely-removing it and all of it’s files that are strewn around your system.

Usually MacOS applications consist of the application file and the preferences file, which are easy enough to remove manually, but many people forget the prefs file, and some other apps toss items all over your hard drive, and just deleting the application, which usually works, isn’t enough for those items. AppZapper seeks to solve that problem.
