Firefox 2.0 is slowly but surely coming to fruition, and a Beta 1 candidate has turned up this week, downloaded already by many many eager Firefox users. Among some of the new fatures in the Firefox 2.0 Beta are a built-in session saver, much like the session saver extension that many people used in the previous versions that kept track of what tabs and sites you had open, and after a crash offered to restore that session by opening those tabs and sites again for you-now this feature, as shown above, is built into Firefox. Additionally, there is a built-in spellchecker for forms and text fields, and individual “close tab” buttons on each individiual tab, a feature that was missing before. Also, expect to see the brand new “History” menu, which will not only list sites but also recently opened tabs, with the option to open them again.
There are plenty more new features, but do keep in mind that this is definitely a beta and is not ready for mass consumption or prime time yet. Use it at your own risk and with your own reward; you’ll definitely run into problems and issues with it, so be prepared, but be proud to be on the absolute bleeding edge!
